Trumpelmann takes three as Lumbini Lions cruise to eight-wicket win over Pokhara Avengers

Ruben Trumpelmann took 3/16 as Lumbini Lions restricted Pokhara Avengers to 97/9, then chased down 98 with 50 balls to spare.

Lumbini Lions beat Pokhara Avengers by eight wickets with 50 balls remaining in the 13th match of the Nepal Premier League, played at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.

Lumbini Lions won the toss and chose to field. Pokhara Avengers were held to 97/9 in their 20 overs, with Chamika Karunaratne top-scoring with 25 from 17 balls. Kushal Bhurtel made 14 and Mahedi Hasan 13.

Ruben Trumpelmann was the standout bowler, finishing with 3 wickets for 16 runs from four overs. Tilak Bhandari took 2 for 22, while Rohit Paudel picked up a wicket with his only over.

Lumbini Lions lost openers Aasif Sheikh and D'Arcy Short early, both for single-figure scores, but captain Rohit Paudel (47 not out off 32 balls) and Niroshan Dickwella (27 not out off 26) saw them home. The pair put on an unbroken stand that carried the side to 98/2 in 11.4 overs.

Trumpelmann was named Player of the Match. Lumbini Lions move up to the top of the table with 2 points, while Pokhara Avengers have no points from this game.
