How Lumbini Lions won NPL 2025 — and what it means for their title defence
Sudurpaschim were bowled out for 85 in the final and Lumbini chased it in nine overs. Here's how the champions got there.

Lumbini Lions lifted their first Nepal Premier League title on 13 December 2025, beating Sudurpaschim Royals by six wickets in a one-sided final in Kirtipur.
The final
Sudurpaschim were bowled out for 85 in 19.1 overs. Lumbini needed only nine overs to reach 86 for 4. Namibia all-rounder Ruben Trumpelmann was player of the match, and also player of the series.
The title was worth Rs 11 million to Lumbini. Sudurpaschim took home Rs 5.1 million as runners-up, their second straight final defeat.
The road there
Lumbini came through the long way. They beat Kathmandu Gorkhas in the Eliminator and Biratnagar Kings in Qualifier 2 before the final. Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel made 276 runs over the season, and Sher Malla took 17 wickets in 10 games to win the emerging player award.
The season's top run-scorer was Pokhara Avengers' Adam Rossington, with 323 runs.
The defence
Lumbini kept the core of that side, retaining seven players including Paudel and Malla. Their defence starts against Sudurpaschim on 26 October — a rematch of the final on the season's opening night.
